At Canning Pot Studio, sustainability and craftsmanship are deeply connected. In order to work in a cost-effective and environmentally conscious way, I designed and built all of the studio equipment by hand. The reheating station (glory hole) was constructed from an old canning pot and recycled ceramic brick, while the burner was fabricated from reclaimed gas piping. Many of the hand tools once served as kitchen utensils before being repurposed for glassworking. Through this process, discarded materials are transformed into illuminated glass sculptures made from recycled art glass and reclaimed wood — functional objects that carry both history and light.
